Why we are adopting
"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well." Psalm 139:14
Even before we were married, Krista had a feeling that we would not be able to have children biologically. So from those early days, she was gathering information about adoption, and looking at what options there were.
After we had tried unsuccessfully for two years to have children, we each had tests done, and discovered that David is sterile. We both accepted this fact fairly easily, as the way God made us, and that we'd have to find another way of having children. It definitely meant we'd have to take much more initiative in finding and adopting children, but we (particularly Krista) jumped into the task with enthusiasm.
We believe we are to have children. Since we cannot have them ourselves, and have many ethical problems with most of the alternative conception methods (and expense), we decided to pursue an adoption. We also decided that we preferred to adopt biracially.
We love children, and believe that this act is an excellent picture of what God has done for us in our lives.
