Nothing beats a paper and ink volume for reading Scripture, but computers are wonderful when it comes to searching! Words, phrases (even into the Greek and Hebrew), topics, cross-references - all work together to let you focus on your study instead of spending time flipping pages.

Here are the tools I use on my PC and my Palm. Even though the software is free, not all Bible versions are free, so what you choose determines how much you spend.

1. Olive Tree Bible Reader 3.40 ( 6/4/2002, 113kb ) Download my copy ( as of 12/23/2002 ) This is a Bible Reader program, and doesn't include any Bible text.

2. Olive Tree Bible Reader 3.51e015 ( 1/21/2004, 1340kb ) Download my copy ( as of 2/6/2004 ) This is a Bible Reader program, and doesn't include any Bible text. This version includes many more features, like full Hi-Res support with Tiny fonts and color, but runs more slowly on older model Palm devices.

1. Olive Tree Bible NAS+Strong's ( 12/8/2001, 2470kb ) Download my copy ( as of 1/17/2003 , requires Olive Tree Bible Reader ) This version of the NASB includes Strong's numbers along with the Hebrew and Greek definitions. This file needs to be unlocked with a key purchased from Olive Tree Bible Software.

2. Olive Tree Bible KJV ( 6/4/2002, 1217kb ) Download my copy ( as of 1/17/2003 , requires Olive Tree Bible Reader ) The King James Version of the Bible.

3. Olive Tree La Biblia las Americas LBLA ( 6/14/2000, 1913kb ) Download my copy ( as of 1/17/2003 , requires Olive Tree Bible Reader ) 1995 Spanish version of the NASB.

Bible Reader

1. Timnathserah Online Bible 1.12 ( 4/17/2002, 9271kb ) Download my copy ( as of 12/23/2002 ) One of the oldest and best PC-based Bible programs around. It's always been lightning-fast doing searches, and is fairly easy to use, though sometimes a little clunky in the interface. This file is all you need to get started, including the KJV Bible, Easton's dictionary, Greek and Hebrew lexicons, and the Treasure of Scripture Knowledge.

1. Timnathserah Bible NAS ( 8/26/2000, 4075kb ) Download my copy ( as of 12/23/2002 , requires Timnathserah Online Bible ) The New American Standard Bible requires an unlock code, which can be purchased from Timnathserah. This includes both the 1977 and 1995 versions.
