The internet isn't new anymore, and it isn't free to make or distribute anything. The free online services have all but died out, and people (like me) are starting to want some compensation for hours and hours of hard labor making that cool tool. Here are a bunch that are still mostly free.

    An experimental computer-based whiteboard that allows multiple people to view and annotate a Powerpoint presentation at the same time. I love to teach interactively, and this concept gets close to the old whiteboard & markers functionality, adding prepared material and the ability to save the markups at the end. This software was initially developed by Microsoft Research, but they got sidetracked by the false lure of video conferencing again -sigh-. Good thing UW took it upon themselves to move forward and get something useful done!

    The premier firewall for personal use. Unless you like it enough to just want to give the company money, or have particular needs for features found only in the purchased versions.
