3. Peter Putzer DiddleBug 2.60 ( 2/26/2003, 660kb ) Download my copy ( as of 2/4/2004 ) This is way better than Palm or Sony's builtin Note sketching app, because it lets you put alarm on you sketches. That way, you can really truly jot a note for something, and then be reminded of it later! Very nice. Try the DiddleBug Exporter to save your notes to your PC. Peter's almost done with a final release of true Hi-Res - keep checking by SourceForge. Also includes a screenshot hack for grabbing images anywhere else on your PDA.

4. Dataviz Documents to Go Basic ( 5/2/2002, 7946kb ) Download my copy ( as of 2/7/2004 ) The gold standard in getting MS Office files onto a Palm device.

2. Chris Antos Handy Shopper 2.9b ( 8/3/2004, 212kb ) Download my copy ( as of 1/20/2005 ) The best free Palm app, hands down. Chris has continuously maintained this program, keeping it up to date with the latest PDAs, yet retaining compatibility all the way back to OS 2.0! Any kind of recurring list you can image can be stored in here: the magic is in the "pick what I need" view, and then switching to the "check off what I've done" view, and not having to recreate items over and over again!

1. WeSync WeSync 1.55 ( 6/13/2002, 4129kb ) Download my copy ( ) An entirely unique application that allows users to share calendars with each other. The calendars are separate, not just copied into each other. Using the Internet, users publish calendars for sharing, which are updated when each person Hotsyncs. Excellent use of the web and PDAs, but the business model failed; unfortunately, WeSync has stopped updating their software, so this is it. Also, it won't work on Palm OS5.

1. Apple iTunes 4.1.1.54 ( 12/1/2003, 19571kb ) Download my copy ( as of 2/16/2004 ) Apple's music player and store, in one. Only $1 per song, but I haven't found a song to buy yet.

1. Verity Lotus Keyview 4.10.746 ( 3/16/1998, 2641kb ) Download my copy ( as of 2/16/2004 ) A free Lotus-format viewer. Reads Lotus Freelance, Lotus 1-2-3, Lotus Word Pro, and AmiPro documents.

1. Apple Quicktime Install Cache 6 ( 5/27/2003, 10329kb ) Download my copy ( as of 2/16/2004 , requires Apple Quicktime ) Put this file in the same folder as the Quick Time Installer, so it won't try to download the software from Apple's site. Useful when no Internet connection is available.

2. Macromedia Shockwave 9 ( 12/26/2003, 3944kb ) Download my copy ( as of 2/16/2004 ) Kind of like Flash player, except that Shockwave content is usually created from Director.

3. Intervideo WinDVD 3.0 ( 12/26/2001, 8219kb ) Download my copy ( as of 2/16/2004 ) Solid, skinnable DVD player.

4. Apple Quicktime MPEG2 6.0.2 ( 8/2/2003, 283kb ) Download my copy ( as of 2/16/2004 , requires Apple Quicktime ) View MPEG2 movies in Quicktime, but you can't edit the movies! Duh. You have to transcode it to mov or avi first.

3. Microsoft Access Snapshot Viewer 2003 ( 8/26/2003, 1794kb ) Download my copy ( as of 2/17/2004 ) View Access report shapshots from versions 97, 2000, 2002, and 2003. This doesn't view Access databases, just reports that have been saved as snapshots.

4. Microsoft Excel Viewer 2000 ( 3/17/1999, 3814kb ) Download my copy ( as of 2/17/2004 ) View Excel files, versions 97, 2000. It'll read 2002 and 2003, because the format hasn't changed, but some advanced (new) features might not be read properly.

5. Microsoft Word Viewer 2000 ( 3/17/1999, 3861kb ) Download my copy ( as of 2/17/2004 ) View Word files, versions 97 and 2000, and most 2002 and 2003 files that aren't using too many of Word's newer features.
