Bread of Life

John 6 Jesus, the Bread of Life
- Feeding 5000+ with 5 loaves & 2 fish
- Withdrew alone to avoid being forced to be king
- Walked on water to meeting the disciples on the sea
- Conversation about bread
- The people wanted bread to eat
- They ignored the implication of the signs and sought him because they were filled
- Food perishes and satisfies for only a short time
- True lasting satisfaction
- Given by Jesus
- Because God the Father has set His seal on Jesus
- Work for this kind of filling
- Work for true satisfaction
- Working for the true food
- The works of God = believe in Jesus
- What about a sign to believe?
- True bread
- True bread comes from God, not men like Moses
- Comes from heaven
- Has seen the Father
- Gives life to the world
- "I am the bread of life" John 6: 35, 48, 51, 58
- Come to Him = not hunger
- Believe in Him = never thirst
- Seeing is not believing
- Eaten defeats death
- The Father's will for Jesus
- Not cast out any who come to Him
- All who come are given by the Father
- Come who have heard and learned from the Father
- Come who are drawn by the Father
- Raise them up on the last day
- Give them all eternal life
- Eating the bread
- Living bread
- Eat the flesh of the Son of Man
- Drinks the blood
- Flesh is true food
- Blood is true drink
- Live because Jesus lives, because the Father lives
- Difficult statement!
- True life
- From the Spirit
- The flesh profits nothing
- Jesus' words themselves are spirit and are life
- The people wanted bread to eat
Fake Bread
- Impressive miracle of feeding 5000+ men with five loaves and two fish
- Very attractive to the people
- Only a very temporary satisfaction
- Even the manna from heaven had to be eaten every single day
- Profits nothing
True Bread
- Comes from heaven
- Has seen the Father
- Gives eternal life
- Satisfies permanently
- From the Spirit
Getting the True Bread
- Seeing is not believing
- Given by the Father, drawn by the Father
- Hear and learn from the Father
- Eat the flesh, the true food
- Drink the blood
