Quicktime Upgrade Breaks Video Encoding

I recently was dismayed to find that I couldn't encode flash video from Adobe Premiere Elements or even using the Flash Video Encoder tool. Premiere would give me an "unknown error" dialog with no further explanation, and Video Encoder would simple stop encoding, with no useful message either.
Neither tool has had any updates recently, but I did remember accepting Apple's recent automatic update to iTunes+Quicktime, which updated Quicktime to version 7.4.1. Don't do it! I removed Quicktime, and re-installed version 7.4, and all is well again.
Hopefully this will be fixed in further updates from Apple or Adobe, but in the meantime I hope this helps other confused and frustrated video encoders.
